Digital marketer – B2C

Africa Geographic is looking for a full-time B2C digital marketer to work either remotely or in the bushveld town of Hoedspruit on the border of South Africa’s Kruger National Park. We are a small team with a massive heart, and significant influence over how our community feels about African safaris and wildlife conservation.

Not just a box-ticker or social media ‘guru’, we are looking for total dedication to the detail of planning, execution and analysis. Our focus going forward is on recruiting subscribers, so your demonstrable experience in that regard will ensure that you get our attention.

You will be working hands-on with our CEO, editorial, safari and admin team to craft exceptional B2C campaigns that generate superb results. Our existing online community of 1,5 million followers, monthly website uniques and newsletter subscribers means that this job requires hitting the ground running and a head for 24/7 engagement in a troubled online environment plagued by sensationalism, fake news, trolls and scamming. Our reputation for authentic, factual content goes against that flow.

Only those with a good understanding of marketing in the safari tourism space and a passion for wildlife need apply.

You will be assumed to have a good understanding of what we do, and why we do it – expect questions from us about how you will make a difference to this 29-year-old brand that is a world leader in African safari and wildlife conservation content. Passion, commitment and drive define our extraordinary team, and you will be expected to add your personal touch to that magic formula. Time-management skills are essential as you will be assessed based on performance, not hours committed. Remote teamwork requires you to be a hands-on self-starter and pro-active driver within our inhouse online ecosystem. Even if you are based in Hoedspruit, most of our team operates remotely from around the world.

Software skills required (or similar): Mailchimp, WordPress, Trello, Microsoft Office products, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook for Business and social media admins – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Areas of expertise required: Subscriber recruitment and retention, social media community growth and management, website SEO, analytics, paid advertising campaigns and extraction of maximum organic juice.

We offer a salary based on your proven experience plus a team performance bonus.
