We are searching for a marketing manager to join our team in Hoedspruit (preferably) or to work from home.

Africa Geographic is a travel company (tour operator), and our focus is on responsible travel options. Our 31-year history includes starting life as a publisher (initially print, then exclusively online) and our evolution into a travel company continues. Our mission is not only about selling bednights; it’s also about factual and accurate reporting of ground-level conservation issues and promoting the celebration of this extraordinary continent and her people. This makes Africa Geographic a complex business – and our marketing team needs to be agile, flexible and adept at multi-tasking.

As our marketing manager, you will help develop and drive our high-level strategy while simultaneously attending to the detail of ‘implement, measure, evolve and repeat’. While we have existing teamAG members that attend to various aspects of these steps, you will be expected to be hands-on while you lead the charge.

More specifically:

  • Take ownership of marketing objectives and make recommendations on the allocation of budgets and activities to meet team targets concerning both financial and online community objectives
  • Build an integrated digital advertising and communications strategy (organic and paid) to achieve the above
  • Implement, measure, evolve, repeat – with regard to the above strategy
  • Strategy to include all our platforms and collateral – website, newsletter, social media pages and advertising collateral
  • Create and manage all aspects of PPC campaigns
  • Work with the content team to produce collateral to support digital campaigns
  • Work with the social media team to integrate social media strategy with targeted marketing goals
  • Measuring and reporting on the performance of all digital marketing campaigns
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimise spend and performance based on the insights
  • Brainstorm and help execute new and creative growth strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimise website landing pages and user experience to align with marketing goals
  • Utilise strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touchpoints
  • Analyse emerging technologies applicable to the execution of the digital strategy
  • Perform keyword research and recommendations for both SEO and PPC campaigns
  • Analyse competitors’ websites and online marketing initiatives
  • Manage paid search budgets on search engines (Google & Bing)
  • Prepare regular reports on marketing campaign performance
  • Measure and report the performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • Along with the content and marketing team, develop and execute PR and communication strategies for targeted campaigns where appropriate
  • Drive marketing of occasional travel trade events and product launches
  • Drive coordination and integration of digital marketing content through a digital marketing schedule and calendar that aligns to the broader marketing schedule

We offer a salary based on your proven experience plus a team performance bonus.
