Zanzibar - the largest of the Spice Islands and also called Unguja - is easily accessible by sea and air and is sought after as a beach retreat and watersports haven.
This main island in the Zanzibar Archipelago offers beautiful stretches of white sand beaches, rocky shores with private jetties and coastal mangrove forest. And then there is Stone Town – the historical part of Zanzibar City and a UNESCO World Heritage Site - with its labyrinth of coralline ragstone and mangrove timber architecture that harks back to its former life as a Swahili trading port
