We encourage discussion and debate on our blog and social media platforms and appreciate all opinions. Unfortunately, though, we do have to protect our community against a small minority of people who use forums such as ours to disrupt and lower the tone of discussions.
Here then, are our rules of engagement:
Don’t be a jerk: We will not tolerate any swearing, threats, personal attacks or harassment of any kind. Racism, bigotry, misogyny or any other inappropriate responses will be removed;
No trolling: If you post a deliberately offensive or provocative comment to upset someone or elicit an angry response from them, your post will be deleted;
No spamming or ambushing us with your products;
We will ban offenders: Repeat offenders of any of the above will be banned from this forum. If you try to circumvent a ban by returning with a sock puppet or new account, you will be banned again. Decisions in these regards are ours and not open to debate;
Keep the passion, but be nice.
Content is provided to Africa Geographic by many people, both professional and amateur, and via traditional and social channels. In the interest of bringing you the full picture, we permit as broad a spectrum of content as possible, even though members of our team don’t necessarily agree with opinions expressed. Africa Geographic team members that comment on our and other social media channels do so in their own capacity and not with Africa Geographic sanction – unless otherwise stated by Africa Geographic.
Topics and opinions vary considerably, and some may make you uncomfortable and even emotional. Feel free to engage with us, our contributors and our community, but remember at all times to respect everybody involved and their right to have an opinion.
Social media channels are by their very nature live and unedited, and we cannot vouch for information provided by commentators. Although we do moderate social media channels for unsuitable content and behaviour, we do not edit or check information provided for accuracy.
Please don’t use our or other people’s copyrighted content without permission. That’s illegal and just not cool.
