We are incredibly honoured to have won Zimbabwe’s “Best Safari Camp – Tented ” by the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents (AZTA) for the 17th consecutive year. Huge congratulations to everyone involved – we have such a great team who always do us proud!

A little background on The Hide…

Celebrating our 25th anniversary next year, the building of The Hide started in 1992 by the late Tom Preston, a charismatic and enterprising man who had a passion for wildlife and conservation.  In September 1992 after a hectic few weeks of final preparations and finishing touches, The Hide Safari Camp welcomed its very first guests.

Sadly, Tom passed away in November 1995 and did not have much time to enjoy this beautiful camp and the surrounding area.  Despite his illness Tom and his wife Lorraine spent as much time as possible at The Hide prior to his death.  The Preston family remain actively involved in the running of the camp to this day, fulfilling Tom’s vision of a family operated camp.

Over the years The Hide has earned its reputation as a consummate safari destination, for both the exceptional wildlife experience and the hospitality it offers.

We recently established The Hide Community Trust, which is a non-profit organisation. This Trust runs alongside The Hide and is partnering with a surrounding local community.

We would like to congratulate our sister camp, Changa Safari Camp on winning second runner up in the “Best Safari Camp – Tented” category and furthermore to all the other winners of the evening.

We look forward to taking part in the AZTA awards again next year! A big thank you goes out to everyone who was involved. It was such a wonderful evening, thank you AZTA!
