ZIMBABWE
This brief safari delivers two of Zimbabwe’s most popular destinations
Victoria Falls - Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders) - is one of Africa’s most iconic destinations and deservedly on many bucket lists. That awe-inspiring vertical drop of 108m into the chasm below and the mist spray curtain during the full flood that can be seen and heard from afar - the stuff of legends.
And then there is Hwange - Zimbabwe’s largest national park and a favourite safari destination for many experienced bush lovers - because of extremely rewarding game viewing
Length: 6 nights / 7 days, but we will amend to suit your needs
Group Size: Flexible – you tell us how many in your party
Location: Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
Departure Dates: To suit you
Victoria Falls is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It’s also an adventure centre of note. You could stay for ages and enjoy a different activity every day, from bungee jumping, gorge swinging and white water rafting, to helicopter and microlight flights (a.k.a the flight of angels), sunset boat and steam train cruises, horse riding, game drives, canoe trips, and so much more. WHAT TO DO in Vic Falls: click here and scroll down to 'Things to do in Victoria Falls'.
During your stay on the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls, walk across the bridge to visit the Zambian side, which offers an exhilarating walk across the ‘Knife-edge Bridge’, a close-up view of the ‘Boiling Pot’ (a scary whirlpool at the base of the falls) and, for the really adventurous, a dip in the famous ‘Devil’s Pool‘.
Just wandering the streets of this quaint town is a memorable experience as you negotiate for souvenirs, dodge warthogs (and elephants!), hang out with locals and sample a range of restaurants and bars.
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest national park at 15,000 km² and a favourite safari destination for many experienced bush lovers.
Game-viewing can be extremely rewarding, especially during the dry winter months from May to October. The park features the Big 5 (although rhinos are seldom seen) and large herds of buffaloes and elephants. Lion and huge elephant herds are frequently seen, and visitors also enjoy regular sightings of cheetah, wild dog, roan and sable antelope. Night drives can be very rewarding, with good sightings of aardvark, aardwolf and pangolin.
Habitats include Kalahari scrub, teak and mopane woodlands, granite hills and salt pans – resulting in over 400 species of birds.
You will be met on arrival in Zimbabwe by one of our representatives and escorted to your road transfer. Again at the end of your safari, you will be met at your road transfer drop-off point and escorted to your departure flight or other arrangements.
