With Friday being a public holiday in Namibia, we ended up having to kill a few days before we could get Andy (our landrover) in to see an auto electrician.
Neither of us were too keen to spend the entire weekend in Swakopmund, so on Friday morning we drove out to a well-known mountain just inland called The Spitzkoppe. It was a good call. The campsite there is run by the local community and was refreshingly well-priced – 50 bucks per person per night. It’s pretty rough camping, with no running water and no toilets. But that’s also its charm.
In keeping with current trends, the scenery was magnificent. And there was plenty of gratuitous sunset porn. We camped flush up against a double-decker-bus-sized boulder and were kept company by a cheery family of rosy-faced lovebirds. All in all, a very lekker weekend
