Areas visited

Victoria Falls, Zambia

Victoria Falls, straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is a breathtaking natural wonder on the Zambezi River. Spanning nearly two kilometres and plunging over 100 meters into several gorges, it's one of the widest waterfalls in the world. Known locally as ‘Mosi oa Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders)’, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can indulge in thrilling activities like kayaking, white-water rafting, ziplining, and bungee jumping or opt for a more tranquil experience with a sunset boat cruise, game viewing, or a visit to the lively Livingstone Market.

Chundukwa River Lodge will serve as your home base while exploring Livingstone. This eco-friendly lodge is built with sustainable, reclaimed, and local materials and operates on organic principles. Each chalet, uniquely designed and elevated on stilts, provides a direct connection to nature, allowing guests to experience a soulful, peaceful retreat. Wildlife, such as hippos and otters, move freely around the lodge, preserving the natural environment.

South Luangwa National Park

Nestled along the Luangwa River, South Luangwa National Park is celebrated for its pristine and awe-inspiring wilderness. Thanks to effective anti-poaching efforts, this park has become a premier wildlife destination. South Luangwa is famous for its walking safaris, offering close encounters with elephants, hippos, leopards (one of the highest densities in Africa), lions and wild dogs, all under the guidance of skilled and experienced armed guides.

While in South Luangwa, you will stay at Nkonzi Camp. This secluded eight-bed tented camp in the heart of the park is nestled on the banks of the Mushilashi River – a seasonal tributary of the Luangwa River. It is a seasonal camp that is reconstructed every year from local materials

Nankoma Island

Nankoma Island, located in the Marelli Archipelago of southern Lake Malawi, boasts vibrant waters teeming with colourful cichlid fish. Snorkelling among these iridescent fish is a truly mesmerising experience. The island is also a birdwatcher's paradise, home to hornbills, kingfishers, paradise flycatchers, owls, cormorants, and fish eagles. For those seeking adventure, kayaking around the island, exploring nearby islands by boat, or unwinding on a sundowner cruise offer exciting options for both relaxation and exploration.

While on Nankoma Island, you will stay at Blue Zebra Island Lodge, which offers an exclusive escape into a wild paradise. Named after the vibrant blue zebra cichlid fish found in the surrounding waters, this eco-friendly lodge operates on solar power, seamlessly blending adventure and relaxation in a serene, private setting. Each chalet immerses you in an unspoiled environment where the sounds of waves and birds create a tranquil atmosphere.

The journey will also take you through atmospheric ebony groves and lagoons in search of eland and Cookson’s wildebeest.

In the late afternoon, wind your way back to Nkonzi Camp, arriving in time for a sundown drink and freshening up before a barbeque dinner under the stars. This will be a long but hugely rewarding day, and you will quite likely fancy an early night after all the excitement!
