Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!
The 200,000 ha (2,000 km²) Khwai area in the eastern fringes of the Okavango Delta consists of the Khwai Community Concession (NG19) and the larger Khwai Private Reserve (NG18). The tourism core of this area lies along the banks of the Khwai River and its tributaries with associated floodplains and woodlands – much of the area north of the rivers is remote and dominated by mopane woodlands and open floodplains.
Khwai is sandwiched between two of northern Botswana’s world-famous parks: Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve. No fences restrict animal movements between these protected areas, so the wildlife viewing experience in Khwai is equal to the spectacular standards of anywhere in northern Botswana, possibly even more so due to its ideal geographic positioning.
Predators are plentiful, with excellent lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog sightings, whilst cheetahs are seen regularly in the open plains, as are serval at night. Large herds of buffalo regularly stream through the waters on their way to fresh grazing grounds, and there is an elephant around every corner.
The larger Khwai Private Reserve has a handful of lodges and guarantees a private safari. In contrast, Khwai Community Concession has more lodges and is open to the public and mobile safari companies - it can become crowded during the high season of July to October.

Why choose us to craft your safari?
Handcrafted experiential safaris since 1991.
Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
