Areas visited

Zanzibar, also called Unguja, is the largest of the Spice Islands. It is easily accessible by sea and air and is sought after as a beach retreat and watersports haven.

This main island in the Zanzibar Archipelago offers beautiful stretches of white sand beaches, rocky shores with private jetties and coastal mangrove forest.

Jambiani

Located on the southeast coast of Zanzibar, Jambiani is a serene fishing village, perfect for travellers seeking a peaceful retreat away from the lively northern party scene. The village boasts a picturesque white sand beach fringed with palm trees and charming guesthouses, hotels, and resorts. Relax on the beach, swim in the clear, calm, aquamarine waters, and go kiteboarding, sailing, exploring a local seaweed farm, or snorkelling among the vibrant coral reefs. Among the other attractions are scenic sunset dhow cruises, spice tours through aromatic distilleries, a historic prison, and a population of giant, ancient tortoises.

While in Jambiani, you will stay at Sharazād Boutique Hotel on the white sand of Jambiani Beach, overlooking the Indian Ocean. This idyllic retreat, with 18 rooms, is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Rooms are built in harmony with Zanzibar's traditional style, featuring a coastal vibe. The hotel's View Restaurant, bars, and four swimming pools all face the ocean.

Stone Town

Nestled on the western coast of Zanzibar’s Unguja Island, Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the cultural nucleus of Zanzibar. Its labyrinth of coralline ragstone and mangrove timber architecture harks back to its former life as a Swahili trading port.
As the island’s oldest district, it features a maze of picturesque streets bordered by majestic historic buildings, lively markets, the opulent sultan’s palace, and the fascinating House of Wonders, renowned for its groundbreaking amenities like running water and electricity when it was built in 1883. Stone Town is also home to a rich array of sacred sites, including over fifty mosques, six Hindu temples, as well as a Catholic and an Anglican cathedral, each with its own distinctive charm.

While in Stone Town, you will stay at Kholle House. This boutique hotel was built in 1860 for Princess Kholle, the daughter of the first Omani Sultan of Zanzibar. This beautiful hotel allows guests to experience Stone Town's rich history. Conveniently located near the Old Fort and Forodhani Park, it's perfect for exploring the area's historical monuments on foot.
