Maputo Special Reserve

Maputo Special Reserve is located on Maputo Bay and was originally proclaimed to protect a small population of coastal elephants that still live in the reserve.
Approximately 100 kilometres southeast of Maputo, the 1,040 km2 (104,000 ha) reserve combines lakes, wetlands, swamp forests, grasslands and mangrove forests with the coastline.
The reserve will eventually form part of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area, which includes national parks from South Africa, Mozambique and Eswatini.
