HANDCRAFTED EXPERIENTIAL SAFARIS

Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!

Mabamba Swamp - a Ramsar Important Bird Area is located on the edge of Lake Victoria, about 57km from Kampala and an hour’s drive from Entebbe. The name derives from emamba - the local name for a species of lungfish.

This wetland consists of 16,500 hectares of papyrus beds, small channels and lagoons - a bird watchers' dream destination. Mabamba is home to 260 bird species, including the massive shoebill – Uganda’s most sought-after bird!

There was a time when the local community used to view shoebills and other fishing birds as competition for the fish resource, but today many local people have been trained as tour guides who now strive to preserve both the birds and the swamp.

Why choose us to craft your safari?

Handcrafted experiential safaris since 1991.

Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
