Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!
Busanga Plains in the far north of Kafue National Park is the park's jewel.
The Lufupa River, a tributary of the Kafue River, flows into the Busanga Swamps and the wide-open spaces flood during the rainy season, generating lush grazing for an array of wildlife. The vast mosaic of grassy seasonal floodplains stretches to the horizon – this is undoubtedly the best place for wildlife viewing in Kafue.
The 720km² (72,000 hectares) of floodplains are dotted with palm groves, papyrus reed beds, lily-covered lagoons, woodlands, open waterways, fig tree islands and riverine vegetation. As the plains drain after the rainy season they attract a high volume of animals and birds.
Search for leopards, lions, elephants, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, wild dogs and large herds of buffalos, impalas, red lechwes, wildebeests, waterbucks, pukus and zebras.
This will only take a moment and yet the information will enable us to begin handcrafting your safari of a lifetime. Or book a call with a safari expert.
Why choose us to craft your safari?
Handcrafted experiential safaris since 1991.
Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
