The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is one of South Africa’s undiscovered wilderness jewels. From wide open spaces and exceptional game viewing, to luxurious lodges set on savannah woodlands, grasslands and riverine glades, the reserve attracts a variety of travellers from around the world. Many such travellers visit the Timbavati in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the elusive leopard, of which there are many.

Dale Jackson, General Manager of Tanda Tula situated in the Timbavati, has spent over six years in the reserve with his wife Hayley watching and sharing many special moments with these cats.

We recently chatted to Dale about these experiences:

“Game sightings have been fantastic over the last few weeks and there has been no shortage of photographic opportunities. I recently started sifting through years of photos to make room for the new, and through this process I was reminded of the many wonderful leopard encounters I have been fortunate to experience over the past six years.

During my time here I have seen a number of generations of leopard come and go at Tanda Tula. The photos below capture some of my favourite times spent with these special creatures. Most of these cubs photographed are now full grown and continue to produce future generations of leopard that we still see today.”
