It’s not very often that life or death unravels before your eyes, but on this particular afternoon at Erindi Private Game Reserve, a sub-adult chacma baboon was in a terrifying situation.
As we arrived at a pride of seven lions, a baboon leapt from a tree towards a lion, and bolted! This got our attention, and after the first chase we were hooked in for at least the next three hours. The sequence of photos is of the baboon’s decision to escape… and then his jaw-dropping indecisiveness.
