In Luderitz, we stayed at the only backpackers in town. It was quaint and homely and just right. It was also quite nice to sleep in a bed again. We met some really interesting people at the backpackers, including 2 masters students studying black-backed jackals on a remote seal colony down the coast. Apparently the jackals form packs of up to 70 when feeding – pretty unique behavior and something that the BBC want to make a documentary about in the near future. We also did the obligatory walk around Kolmanskop, a deserted mining town from the early 1900’s.
