Tiger fishing on the Chobe and Zambezi

The editors at Africa Geographic would like to state that all fish caught were subsequently released safely back into the river.

Liam Rogers, aged 9, wrote this about his most favourite thing in the world; fishing!

I enjoyed my stay at impalila on the zambizi. I caught many kinds of fish like bulldogs and cat fish, squeakers, bream.

But my favourite fish was the tiger fish I caught thirteen tiger fish they weighed between 3kg and 2kg. We caught them in the rapids, and we were close to Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The fish were released and we caught them using bulldogs, which are little fish that we bought from the local people.

We saw lots of elephants and lions, crocodiles, leopard, zebra, hippos, the hippos kept us awake every night. I put my tiger fish in the record book. I was the youngest boy to catch such a big fish.

This is the fish I caught using Bulldogs which are small fish that the fishermen catch. You have to be careful of crocodiles there as many people get eaten.

This baby elephant was so cute as he tried to trumpet and charge us but only a squeak came out!
