These two mountains are Mount Rwenzori, which can be visited from Uganda or the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mountain Kilimanjaro that can be seen from Kenya and Tanzania – but most adventure routes on this mountain start from the Tanzanian side.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Rwenzori Mountains National Park is located in the Rwenzori Mountains. The park has Africa’s third highest mountain peak and many waterfalls, lakes, and glaciers. The park is known for its beautiful plant life.
Rwenzori is a mountain range in south-west Uganda bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo. The highest peak is Mt. Margherita (5,109m), though Mt. Speke (4,980m) is the more popular and less daunting climb. The region’s glaciers, waterfalls and lakes make it one of Africa’s most beautiful alpine areas. The park is home to a variety of endangered species and rich and unusual flora comprising of, among other species, the giant heather. Elephants and a variety of other small animals can be found at Rwenzori Mountains National Park.

Kilimanjaro National Park
Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa at 5,895 m. This volcanic massif stands in splendid isolation above the surrounding plains, with its snowy peak looming over the savannah. The mountain is encircled by forest and numerous mammals, many of them endangered species, live in the park.
The park is located 300 kilometres south of the equator and in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania near the city of Moshi. The park includes the whole of Mount Kilimanjaro above the tree line and the surrounding montane forest belt above 1,820 metres.
Kilimanjaro is a large stratovolcano and is composed of three distinct volcanic cones: Kibo, the highest; Mawenzi; and Shira, the shortest. Mawenzi and Shira are extinct, while Kibo is dormant and could erupt again. Uhuru Peak is the highest summit on Kibo’s crater rim.
