Snow in spring can really dampen the spirits but when you live in Cape Town and the bright, flower-carperted fields of Darling are less than an hour away, snow is welcomed as a dramatic backdrop to nature’s very own colour festival!

One can only imagine what the fields of the west coast must have looked like before they were crissed-crossed with tarred roads and electricity wires but nature can be oh-so forgiving as every year around this time, she puts on a photographic display that dreams are made of. A visit to the flowers at these time of year should not be missed and when the Duckitt orchid farm opens it doors to the public, spring sure does put some sun in my steps!

I am the first to confess that I have been bitten by the travel bug… badly. I am a lover of all things travel from basic tenting with creepy crawlies to lazing in luxury lodges; I will give it all a go. I am passionate about wildlife and conservation and come from a long line of biologists, researchers and botanists.
