Samburu-Dancers

Here are just five places that can’t be missed on your holiday to Kenya:

1. Nairobi

A cosmopolitan city that is rich in history dating back to the colonial era – a diversity of cultures, music and wildlife.

2. Samburu National Reserve

Rugged, dry and scenic are just a few words that describe this amazing park that is home to the ‘Special Five’ – Grévy’s zebra, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich and beisa oryx. The colourful Samburu people, who are closely related to the Maasai, make their home in the area, and a visit to this tribe can be a highlight of your safari.

3. Aberdare National Park

A dense forest that was once home to the brave Mau Mau fighters who fought for the independence of Kenya. This park now offers you The Ark – a unique tree lodge experience where you get to see animals from the comfort of the lodge. It is also home to the rare bongo antelope.

4. Lake Nakuru National Park

This alkaline lake located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley is a bird lover’s paradise with millions of flamingos and pelicans. The lake is also home to a large number of black and white rhinos, as well as the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe.

5. Maasai Mara Game Reserve

The world’s most famous park, known for the annual migration of millions of wildebeests and zebras from Serengeti National Park to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Home to the Big Five: elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino, as well as large Nile crocodiles, hippos and other plains game. The reserve is also home to the famous Maasai tribe who are known for their co-inhabitance with wildlife.
